Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement Lower VIN 1

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 72744  Size: SH
  1. Remove the fan shroud bolts.
  2. Disconnect the hood latch cable.
  3. Remove the upper fan shroud.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 72744  Size: SH
  1. Install the upper fan shroud.
  2. Connect the hood latch cable.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fan shroud bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the vacuum reservoir if the vehicle is equipped with a vacuum reservoir. Refer to HVAC.

  2. Object Number: 72745  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fan shroud retaining bolts.
  4. Remove the fluid level indicator from the engine.
  5. Remove the fluid level indicator from the automatic transmission, if the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission.
  6. Disconnect the fan from the coolant pump. Refer to Fan Replacement .
  7. Remove the fan and the fan shroud together.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fan and the fan shroud together.
  2. Connect the fan to the coolant pump. Refer to Fan Replacement .
  3. Install the fluid level indicators into the engine and the automatic transmission, if the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   5. Install the radiator mounting bracket and the bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Install the fan shroud retaining bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Install the vacuum reservoir if the vehicle is equipped with a vacuum reservoir. Refer to HVAC.

Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement 7.4L

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the vacuum reservoir if the vehicle is equipped with a vacuum reservoir. Refer to HVAC.

  2. Object Number: 72744  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fan shroud retaining bolts as necessary.
  4. Remove the fluid level indicator from the engine.
  5. Remove the fluid level indicator from the automatic transmission, if the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission.
  6. Disconnect the radiator hose strap from the fan shroud.
  7. Disconnect the fan from the coolant pump. Refer to Fan Replacement .
  8. Remove the fan and the fan shroud together.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fan and the fan shroud together.
  2. Connect the fan to the coolant pump. Refer to Fan Replacement .
  3. Connect the radiator hose strap to the fan shroud.
  4. Install the fluid level indicators into the engine and the automatic transmission, if the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission.
