Fiberglass Repair

Use the following procedure in order to repair most fiberglass parts:

  1. Sand or grind the damaged area.
  2. Use one of the following materials in order to fill the damaged area:
  3. • Plastic filler
    • Fiberglass cloth and resin

Determine which type of material to use by the type of repair needed. Ensure that the repair hardens before performing finishing operations.

Use locally procured fiberglass cloth and resin for the following repairs:

    • Large holes
    • Torn sections
    • Separated joints

Use plastic filler and sanding for the following repairs:

    • Small dents
    • Scratches
    • Surface cracks
    • Pits

Paint refinishing procedures are the same for fiberglass parts as for metal parts.
