Removal Procedure
- Block the wheels.
- Drain all of the air reservoirs. Refer to
Draining Reservoirs
in Air Brakes.
Important: Tag the air lines for later installation.
- Remove the air lines at the two-speed rear axle pressure protection
valve. Refer to Air Brakes.
- Remove the following components from the two-speed rear axle pressure
protection valve:
- Remove the two-speed rear axle pressure protection valve at the
brake pedal bracket.
- Inspect the air lines for the following conditions:
- Repair or replace the air lines as needed. Refer to Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
in Air Brakes.
Installation Procedure
- Install the two-speed rear axle pressure protection valve at the
brake pedal bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the following
components to the two-speed rear axle pressure protection valve:
Tighten
Tighten the two-speed rear axle pressure protection valve nuts to 12 N·m
(106 lb in).
- Install the air lines at the two-speed rear axle pressure protection
valve. Refer to Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
in Air Brakes.
- Start the engine. Charge the system to the air compressor governor
cutout point.
- Stop the engine.
- Inspect for air leaks using a soap solution.
- Remove the wheel blocks.
