Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Drain all of the air reservoirs. Refer to Draining Reservoirs in Air Brakes.
  4. Important: Tag the air lines for later installation.

  5. Remove the air lines at the two-speed rear axle shift control valve. Refer to Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression in Air Brakes.

  6. Object Number: 199127  Size: MH
  7. Remove the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate screws (1).
  8. Remove the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate (2).
  9. Remove the two-speed rear axle shift control valve (3) from the instrument panel.
  10. Inspect the air lines for the following conditions:
  11. • Damage
    • Kinks
    • Wear

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 199127  Size: MH
  1. Install the two-speed rear axle shift control valve (3) into the instrument panel.
  2. Install the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate (2).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate screws (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate screws (1) until fully seated. Do not strip the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate screws (1).

  6. Install the air lines at the two-speed rear axle shift control valve. Refer toHose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression in Air Brakes.
  7. Inspect for air leaks using a soap solution.
  8. Verify proper operation of the two-speed rear axle.
  9. Remove the wheel blocks.
