Removal Procedure
- Apply the parking brake.
- Block the wheels.
- Drain all of the air reservoirs. Refer to
Draining Reservoirs
in Air Brakes.
Important: Tag the air lines for later installation.
- Remove the air lines at the two-speed rear axle shift control valve.
Refer to Hose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
in Air Brakes.
- Remove the two-speed rear
axle shift control valve name plate screws (1).
- Remove the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate (2).
- Remove the two-speed rear axle shift control valve (3)
from the instrument panel.
- Inspect the air lines for the following conditions:
Installation Procedure
- Install the two-speed
rear axle shift control valve (3) into the instrument panel.
- Install the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the two-speed
rear axle shift control valve name plate screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the two-speed rear axle shift control valve name plate screws (1)
until fully seated. Do not strip the two-speed rear axle shift control valve
name plate screws (1).
- Install the air lines at the two-speed rear axle shift control
valve. Refer toHose and Line Replacement - Nylon and Metal Compression
in Air Brakes.
- Inspect for air leaks using a soap solution.
- Verify proper operation of the two-speed rear axle.
- Remove the wheel blocks.
