This PI is being superseded to add checking switch serial number. Please discard PIP3558M.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Unrequested transfer case mode shift. Condition is likely intermittent.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Order a transfer case select switch from GMSPO stock, inspect the switch serial number located in the bar code located on the switch body. The last 6 digits of the serial number should be 0665890 or higher. If the serial number is correct, replace the switch and prior to installation record the serial number of the new switch on the repair order.
If the customer returns with an unrequested shift related concern please contact GM technical assistance at the number you have been provided.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
