Rear Wheel Opening Molding Replacement Extended Wheelbase

Tools Required

J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 319613  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screws from the lower front of the quarter wheel opening molding.
  2. Starting at the rear and working forward, pull up on the quarter wheel opening molding.

  3. Object Number: 319619  Size: SH
  4. Pull up and out to release the quarter wheel opening molding from the front support.

  5. Object Number: 319622  Size: SH
  6. Pull out and down to release the lower quarter wheel opening molding locating retainers.
  7. Remove the quarter wheel opening molding from the quarter panel.
  8. Pull out the center pins of the quarter wheel opening molding support retainers.
  9. Use a J 25070 152 mm (6 in) from the surface to heat the quarter wheel opening molding support.
  10. Use a circular motion to apply heat for 30 seconds.

  11. Use a plastic flat-bladed tool to remove the quarter wheel opening molding support from the surface.
  12. Remove the quarter wheel opening molding support from the quarter panel.
  13. Use oil-free naphtha or alcohol to clean the body panel.
  14. Remove all traces of adhesive from the body panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 319619  Size: SH

    Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing on the molding support.

  1. Remove the protective liner from the back of the quarter wheel opening molding support.
  2. Use a J 25070 to warm the quarter panel to a minimum of 21°C (70°F)

  3. Object Number: 319622  Size: SH
  4. Insert the quarter wheel opening molding support retainers into the holes in the quarter panel starting with the front hole.
  5. Press the quarter wheel opening molding support to ensure the maximum bond to the quarter panel.
  6. Press in the center pins of the retainers.

  7. Object Number: 319613  Size: SH
  8. Align the quarter wheel opening molding to the quarter panel.
  9. Starting at the rear and working forward, align the quarter wheel opening molding retainers to the holes in the quarter panel.
  10. Position the front upper quarter wheel opening molding into the clips of the support.
  11. Press in the lower locating retainers until fully seated.
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Install the screws to the lower front of the quarter wheel opening molding.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Rear Wheel Opening Molding Replacement Standard Wheelbase

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 319624  Size: SH
  1. Use the J 38778 to remove the push-in retainers from the lower front of the quarter wheel opening molding.
  2. Remove the screws from the front of the quarter wheel opening molding.
  3. Starting at the rear and working forward, pull up on the quarter wheel opening molding.
  4. Remove the quarter wheel opening molding from the quarter panel.

  6. Remove the nuts from the lower quarter wheel opening molding retainer.
  7. Remove the lower quarter wheel opening molding retainer from the quarter panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 319626  Size: SH
  1. Install the lower quarter wheel opening molding retainer to the quarter panel.
  2. Align the upper hole of the quarter wheel opening molding retainer to the upper stud.
  3. Align the lower slot in the quarter wheel opening molding retainer to the lower stud.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nuts to the lower quarter wheel opening molding retainer.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Align the quarter wheel opening molding to the quarter panel flare flush with the body.
  8. Starting at the rear, align the quarter wheel opening molding retainers to the holes in the quarter panel.
  9. Working forward, press the quarter wheel opening molding retainers into the quarter panel until fully seated.

  10. Object Number: 319624  Size: SH
  11. Install the screws to the front of the quarter wheel opening molding.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  13. Install the push-in quarter wheel opening molding retainers to the lower front of the quarter wheel opening molding.
