Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Depress the rear wiper switch to operate the rear wiper.

Does the rear wiper operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Depress the rear wiper switch to the On position.
  4. Connect a test light between cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Test the voltage supply circuit at the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

With the rear wiper/washer switch still disconnected:

  1. Depress the rear wiper switch to the On position.
  2. Test the ON circuit of the rear wiper/washer switch for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you measure a high resistance or an open condition in the rear wiper/washer switch?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the BLU/GRN wire between cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector and cavity 4 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Test the ground circuit of the wiper motor for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
