🢒 Drum Brake Hardware Inspection
Visually inspect the shoe hold down pins (1) and the shoe hold down springs (2) for the following:
•
Excessive corrosion
•
Damaged or bent pins
•
Broken spring coils
Visually inspect the upper return spring (1) and the lower return spring (4) for the following:
•
Excessive corrosion
•
Excessive stretching
•
Broken hook ends
•
Twisting
•
Binding
Visually inspect the strut, the strut spring (3), and the pawl lever (6) for the following:
•
Excessive corrosion
•
Damage
•
Binding
Replace the drum brake system hardware if necessary. Refer to
Drum Brake Hardware Replacement
