Windshield Stress Cracks (Replace Windshield)

Some customers may comment that the windshield has a crack in the lower left hand corner or the right hand corner.

This condition may be caused by excessive sealant that can create an uneven surface for the windshield to adhere to and may cause a stress crack .

Remove the windshield. Refer to Windshield Replacement (SI Document ID #755411).

1. Once the wind shield is removed, inspect the left and right side of the body joint for excessive sealer.
2. If excessive body sealer is present , remove it and make sure the surface is smooth and clean for good adhesion.

Important: DO NOT USE THE DURA LOCK TABS.

3. Lay a smooth bead of sealant and install the wind shield.

For vehicles repaired under warranty, use labor operation C0034. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 72-05-04 for guidelines for using this labor operation.
