Removal Procedure
- Remove the manual transmission assembly from the vehicle. Refer
to
Two-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement
or
Four-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement
in Manual Transmission.
Important: DO NOT clean the clutch release bearing with a degreaser or solvents.
Cleaning the clutch release bearing with a degreaser or solvents will damage
the bearing seals. Use a clean, dry solvent-free cloth.
- Remove the clutch release Bearing (2) from the input shaft.
- Remove the clutch release shaft fork (1).
- Clean the clutch release bearing (2) with a clean, dry
solvent-free cloth.
- Inspect the clutch release bearing (2) for external damage
and smooth rotation. If external damage exists or the bearing does not operate
smoothly, replace the clutch release bearing.
Installation Procedure
- Apply a thin coat of wheel bearing lubricant GM P/N 1051344,
or the equivalent, to the transmission input shaft.
- Install the clutch release
shaft fork (1) into the transmission housing; secure the clutch release
bearing (2) to the clutch release shaft fork (1).
- Install the manual transmission assembly into the vehicle. Refer
to
Two-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement
or
Four-Wheel-Drive Transmission Replacement
in
Manual Transmission.
