Circuit Description

This DTC identifies a malfunction within the EBCM. When the electronic brake control relay is activated (turned ON), voltage is supplied to the valve solenoids and pump motor.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ABS conditions are normal.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC C1256 is set when an internal EBCM malfunction exists.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • ABS remains functional
    • The ABS warning indicator remains OFF.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists and the Scan Tool Clear DTCs function is used.
    • 100 drive cycles pass with no DTCs detected. A drive cycle consists of starting the vehicle, driving the vehicle over 16 km/h (10 mph), stopping and then turning the ignition OFF.

Diagnostic Aids

Inspect that the EBCM to BPMV connection is secure, tight, and free of corrosion.
