Subject: | Transmission Will Not Upshift After a Downshift at Highway
Speeds While in Cruise Control (Replace Cruise Control Module (Servo)). |

Condition
Some customers may comment that when driving on the highway with the
cruise control in operation, the transmission will downshift and will not
upshift again, or upshifts are delayed until well after the expected point
of upshift.
Correction
- Replace the cruise control servo module assembly with new P/N 30025543.
- Locate the cruise servo module on the left fender inner panel,
directly behind the coolant recovery reservoir.
- Carefully release the plastic clips retaining the cruise module
cover from the cruise servo.
- Loosen the lock nut retaining the cruise control cable to the
servo unit bracket, slide the cable out of the bracket and from around the
servo spool and set aside.
- Disconnect the electrical wires from the servo assembly.
- Remove the three bolts holding the unit to the inner fender and
remove the servo from the vehicle.
- Place the new servo module into position on the inner fender and
install the three attaching bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Attach the electrical wires to the connector on the servo unit.
- Place the cable into the servo spool and through the retaining
bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the retaining nut to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Replace the cruise servo module cover.
