Endgate Hinge Replacement Upper
Removal Procedure
- Open the endgate panel.
- Suitably support the endgate panel.
- Mark the position of the upper hinge to the endgate panel and
the door jamb in order to aid in the reassembly process.
- Remove the 2 bolts (2) that retain the endgate upper hinge (1)
to the endgate panel.
- Remove the 3 bolts (3) that retain the endgate upper hinge (1)
to the door jamb.
- Remove the endgate upper hinge (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the endgate upper
hinge (1) to the vehicle. Secure the hinge to the door jamb with the
3 bolts (3). Do not tighten completely at this time.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the 2 bolts (2)
that retain the endgate upper hinge (1) to the endgate panel.
Tighten
Tighten the endgate upper hinge mounting bolts to 34 N·m
(25 lb ft).
- Remove the support from the endgate panel.
- Close the endgate panel.
Endgate Hinge Replacement Lower
Removal Procedure
- Remove the right tail
lamp. Refer to
Tail Lamp Replacement
in Lighting
Systems.
- Remove the 4 bolts (1) which secure the endgate lower hinge (2)
to the endgate panel.
- Remove the 3 bolts (3) which secure the endgate lower hinge (2)
to the door jamb.
- Remove the endgate lower hinge (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the endgate lower
hinge (2) to the vehicle. Secure the hinge to the door jamb with the
3 mounting bolts (3). Do not tighten fully at this time.

which secure the endgate lower hinge (2) to the endgate panel.
Tighten
Tighten the endgate lower hinge mounting bolts to 34 N·m
(25 lb ft).
- Install the right tail lamp. Refer to
