Rear Side Door Upper Hinge and Lower Hinge Replacement Upper

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 474181  Size: SH
  1. Open the front side door in order to gain access to the rear side door upper hinge bolts.
  2. Mark the position of the rear side door upper (4) and lower hinges to the rear side door (3).

  3. Object Number: 474175  Size: SH
  4. Mark the position of the rear side door upper hinge to the door jamb.
  5. Remove the lower center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  6. Remove the 2 bolts (1) and the nut which secure the upper hinge to the door jamb (2).

  8. Remove the rear side door check pin (2).

  9. Object Number: 352102  Size: SH
  10. Support the rear side door (2) using a floor jack (1) and piece of wood.

  11. Object Number: 474181  Size: SH
  12. Remove the 2 bolts (2) which secure the upper hinge (4) to the door (3).
  13. Remove the 2 bolts which secure the lower hinge to the door (3).
  14. Slide the rear side door (3) away from the door jamb in order to gain the necessary clearance to remove the upper hinge (4).
  15. Remove the upper hinge (4) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 474181  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear side door upper hinge (4) to the door jamb by aligning the hinge with the marks made during the removal procedure. Secure the hinge with the 2 bolts and the nut. Do not tighten fully at this time.
  2. Position the rear side door (3) to the hinges by aligning the hinges with the marks made during the removal procedure.

  4. Install the rear side door check pin (2).

  5. Object Number: 474181  Size: SH
  6. Install the 2 bolts which secure the lower hinge to the door (3). Do not tighten fully at this time.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the 2 bolts (2) which secure the upper hinge (4) to the door (3).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the rear side door hinge bolts to 27 N·m (19 lb ft) and the rear side door upper hinge nut to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  10. Install the lower center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  12. Remove the floor jack (1) and the piece of wood.
  13. Close the front side door.

  14. Object Number: 474169  Size: SH
  15. Adjust the rear side door lock striker (2) vertical measurement in order to align with the center of the rear side door lock (1).
  16. Keep the lock striker (2) level while moving the striker sideways in order to adjust the rear side door flushness with the quarter panel, as needed. Refer to Door Adjustment .

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 487564  Size: SH
  1. Open the front side door in order to gain access to the rear side door lower hinge bolts (2, 3).
  2. Mark the position of the rear side door lower hinge (1) to the rear side door and the door jamb.
  3. Remove the 2 bolts (3) which secure the lower hinge (1) to the door.
  4. Remove the 2 bolts (2) which secure the lower hinge (1) to the door jamb.
  5. Remove the lower hinge (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear side door lower hinge (1) to the vehicle by aligning the hinge with the marks made during the removal procedure. Secure the hinge to the door jamb with the 2 bolts (2). Do not tighten fully at this time.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear side door lower hinge bolts to 27 N·m (19 lb ft).

  5. Close the front side door.
