A malfunction in the cruise control system is the result of either the electrical components or the mechanical components. Isolate the electrical components or the mechanical components prior to a diagnosis. Begin a diagnosis with the simplest operation. End a diagnosis with the most difficult operation.
Perform the following actions when performing a mechanical inspection:
• | Ensure that the cruise control servo cable is connected to the following components: |
- | The cruise control servo assembly (6) |
- | The accelerator lever assembly (1) |
• | Ensure that the following components move freely: |
- | The cruise control servo cable (3) |
- | The accelerator lever (1) |
• | Inspect the cruise control servo assembly (6) for any bare, broken, or disconnected wires. |
If no abnormalities are found in the mechanical inspection, and the cruise control system is inoperative, refer to Symptoms - Cruise Control .
