The remote keyless entry/power door lock system will operate erratically when an open is present in any one of the control circuits to the remote control door lock receiver.

Swapping the LOCK relay with the UNLOCK relay and noting if the symptom changes can provide a quick test of the relay operation.

Operate the door locks. Note which locks operate and which locks do not operate from both the door switch and the remote keyless entry transmitter.

  1. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver.
  2. Remove the door LOCK relay.
  3. Test for an open in the PNK wire between terminal 3 of the door LOCK relay and terminal R of the remote control door lock receiver.

Is an open present?

Repair the open in the PNK wire between the door LOCK relay and cavity R of the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for an open in the BLK wire between terminal 4 and terminal 5 of the door LOCK relay.

Is an open present?

Repair the open in the BLK wire between the door LOCK relay terminal 5 and terminal 4. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver.
  2. Remove the door UNLOCK relay.
  3. Test for an open in the PNK/GRN wire between terminal 3 of the door UNLOCK relay and terminal B of the remote control door lock receiver.

Repair the open in the PNK/GRN wire between the door UNLOCK relay and S228. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
