Verify that the speedometer Indicator is inoperative.

Does the speedometer operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Test for an open condition from the instrument cluster connector C1, cavity 5 and battery voltage.

Does an open condition exist?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair the WHT wire from the instrument cluster C1, cavity 5 and the junction block C1, cavity 9.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Test for a short to ground condition from the instrument cluster connector C3, cavity 2.

Does a short to ground condition exist?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair the WHT/YEL wire from the instrument cluster C3, cavity 2 and G103.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Inspect the instrument cluster printed circuit for any damage or loose connections.

Does any damage or loose connections exist?

Go to Step 8

Replace the instrument cluster printed circuit. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement

Test for an open condition from the instrument cluster connector C1, cavity 9 and the vehicle speed sensor cavity 1.

Does an open condition exist?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open condition from the instrument cluster and the VSS.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the speedometer.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
