DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the rear washer pump inoperative and assumes that the rear wiper operates normally.

Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the rear washers are inoperative.

Do the washers operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear washer pump. Refer to Rear Window Washer Pump Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF
  3. Connect a test light between cavity 2 of the rear washer pump connector and a good ground.
  4. Depress the rear washer switch to the wash position.

Does the test light illuminate with the rear washer switch depressed to the wash position?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement for access.
  2. Test for an open between cavity 2 of the rear washer pump connector and cavity 1 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector.

Did you test an open in the BLK/RED wire?

Go to Step 9

Test for continuity between cavity 1 of the rear washer pump connector and ground.

Was there continuity in the BLK wire?

Go to Step 7

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear washer pump. Refer to Rear Window Washer Pump Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Repair the Blk wire between ground G104 and cavity 1 of the rear washer pump connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Repair the BLK/RED wire between cavity 2 of the rear washer pump connector and cavity 1 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Operate the rear washers in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
