DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the rear wiper operates normally but will not return to the park position when the rear wiper operation is cancelled.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify that the rear wiper will not park when the wiper operation is cancelled.

Does the rear wiper park?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test light between cavity 2 of the rear wiper motor connector and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 8

  1. Make sure the wiper switch is in the off position.
  2. Test for an open between cavity 1 and cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector.

Did you test an open between cavity 1 and cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .
  2. an open between cavity 1 of the rear wiper motor connector and cavity 5 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector.

Did you test an open in the ORN wire?

Go to Step 9

Replace the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Repair the open in the YEL/BLU wire between cavity 2 of the rear wiper motor and cavity 6 of connector C5 at the Junction Block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the ORN wire between cavity 1 of the rear wiper motor connector and cavity 5 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
