Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the rear wiper is inoperative.

Does the rear wiper operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Depress the rear wiper switch to the on position.
  4. Connect a test light between cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test light between cavity 3 of the rear wiper/washer switch and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement for access.
  2. Test for an open between cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector and cavity 4 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector.

Did you test an open in the BLU/GRN wire?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 7

Replace the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Repair the open in the BLU/YEL wire between cavity 3 of the rear wiper/washer switch and cavity 5 of connector C4 at the Junction Block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the BLU/GRN wire between cavity 4 of the rear wiper motor connector and cavity 4 of the rear wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
