DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the front washer pump inoperative and assumes that the front wipers operate normally.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the front washers are inoperative.

Do the washers operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the front washer pump. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF
  3. Connect a test light between cavity 2 of the front washer pump connector and a good ground.
  4. Pull and hold the wiper/washer switch to the wash position.

Does the test light illuminate with the wiper/washer switch pulled and held in the wash position?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement
  2. Test for an open between cavity 2 of the front washer pump connector and cavity 8 of the wiper/washer switch.

Is there an open in the BLU/BLK wire?

Go to Step 9

Test for an open between cavity 1 of the front washer pump connector and ground.

Did you test an open in the BLK wire?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Replace the washer pump. Refer to Washer Pump Replacement

Did you complete the replacement?

Repair the Blk wire between ground G104 and cavity 1 of the front washer pump connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Repair the BLU/BLK wire between cavity 2 of the front washer pump connector and cavity 8 of the wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Operate the front washers in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
