DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the wipers operates normally but will not return to the park position when the wiper operation is cancelled.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify that the front wiper will not park when the wiper operation is cancelled.

Does the front wiper park?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the front wiper motor connector. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test light between cavity 2 of the front wiper motor connector and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Make sure the wiper switch is in the off position.
  2. Test for continuity between cavity 3 and cavity 1 of the front wiper motor connector.

Is there continuity between cavity 3 and cavity 1 of the front wiper motor connector?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the front wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement for access.
  2. Test for continuity between cavity 3 of the front wiper motor connector and cavity 5 of the front wiper/washer switch connector.

Is there continuity in the BLU/WHT wire?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 9

Replace the front wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Replace the front wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Repair the open in the YEL/BLU wire between cavity 2 of the front wiper motor and S231. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open in the BLU/WHT wire between cavity 3 of the front wiper motor connector and cavity 5 of the front wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
