DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the front wipers inoperative in the HI mode.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the front wipers are inoperative in the HI mode.

Do the front wipers operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the front wiper motor connector. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement for access.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn the front wiper switch to the HI position.
  4. Connect a test light between cavity 4 of the front wiper motor connector and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the front wiper/washer switch connector. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement for access.
  2. Turn the wiper/washer switch to the HI position.
  3. Test for an open between cavity 18 and cavity 6 of the wiper/washer switch.

Did you test an open between cavity 18 and cavity 6?

Go to Step 6

Replace the front wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

Replace the front wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in the BLU/RED wire between cavity 6 of the front wiper/washer switch connector and cavity 4 of the front wiper motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 8

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
