Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement 2 Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the endgate outside
handle. Refer to
Endgate Handle Replacement
in Body Rear End.
- Remove the 2 bolts (1) which secure the rear license
plate housing.
- Remove the following components from the rear license plate housing:

- Using a taped flat bladed tool in order to gently pry the housing
from the endgate panel by disengaging the plastic retainers.
- Remove the gasket (2)
from the rear license plate housing (1).
- Remove the 2 screws (2)
which secure the rear license plate lamp assembly (1).
- Pull the lamp assembly (1) rearward in order to gain access
to the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Disconnect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Remove the rear license plate lamp assembly (1) from the
rear license plate housing (3).
- Remove the rear license
plate lamp bulb socket (1) from the lamp assembly (2), if necessary.
- Remove the rear license plate lamp bulb from the license plate
lamp bulb socket (1), if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear license
plate lamp bulb to the rear license plate lamp bulb socket (1), if
removed.
- Install the license plate lamp bulb socket (1) to the lamp
assembly (2), if removed.
- Connect the rear license
plate lamp electrical connector.
- Install the rear license plate lamp assembly (1) to the
rear license plate housing (3). Secure the assembly with the 2 screws (2).
- Install the gasket (2)
to the housing (1).
- Install the rear license
plate housing to the endgate panel. Ensure that the plastic retainers are
fully engaged.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the 2 bolts (1)
which secure the rear license plate housing.
Tighten
Tighten the rear license plate housing mounting bolts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the rear license plate to the housing. Secure the license
plate with the 2 screws.
- Install the endgate outside handle. Refer to
Endgate Handle Replacement
in Body Rear End.
Rear License Plate Lamp Replacement 4 Door
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear door outside
handle. Refer to
Rear Door Outside Handle Replacement
in Body Rear End.
- Remove the 2 bolts (1) that retain the rear license
plate housing.
- Remove the following components from the rear license plate housing:

from the rear door by disengaging the plastic retainers.
- Remove the gasket (2)
from the housing (1).
- Remove the 2 screws (2)
that retain the rear license plate lamp assembly (1).
- Pull the lamp assembly (1) rearward in order to gain access
to the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Disconnect the rear license plate lamp electrical connector.
- Remove the rear license plate lamp assembly (1) from the
rear license plate housing (3).
- Remove the rear license
plate lamp bulb socket (1) from the lamp assembly (2), if necessary.
- Remove the rear license plate lamp bulb from the license plate
lamp bulb socket (1), if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the license plate
lamp bulb to the license plate lamp bulb socket (1), if removed.
- Install the license plate lamp bulb socket (1) to the lamp
assembly (2), if removed.
- Connect the rear license
plate lamp electrical connector.
- Install the rear license plate lamp assembly (1) to the
rear license plate housing (3). Secure the assembly with the 2 screws (2).
- Install the gasket (2)
to the housing (1).
- Install the rear license
plate housing to the rear door. Ensure that the plastic retainers are completely
engaged.

Tighten the rear license plate housing mounting bolts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Install the rear license plate to the housing. Secure the license
plate with the 2 screws.
- Install the rear door outside handle. Refer to
Rear Door Outside Handle Replacement
in Body Rear End.
