GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The following modules may be accessed by a scan tool:

    • The powertrain control module (PCM)
    • The sensing and diagnostic module (SDM)
    • The electronic brake control module (EBCM), if equipped

The PCM is accessed through the data link connector (DLC)-OBD2 on the PPL/GRN wire at cavity 7 and the BLK/GRN wire at cavity 5. The SDM is accessed through the data link connector (DLC)-OBD2 on the PPL/GRN wire at cavity 7. The EBCM is accessed through the data link connector (DLC)-OBD2 on the PPL/WHT wire at cavity 2.

Even though programming of the remote control door lock receiver is provided at terminal 8 of the data link connector (DLC)-OBD2, there is no scan tool communication available.

Battery voltage is supplied to the DLC-OBD2 through the DOME fuse. Ground is provided to the DLC-OBD2 at G200.

These communication lines monitor the module for diagnostic purposes and in order to inspect for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
