Operate the blower motor at each speed.

Does the blower motor operate at low speed?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Ignition switch ON.
  2. Blower motor speed switch OFF.
  3. Backprobe the blower speed switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 3 to chassis ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Replace the blower speed switch. Refer to Blower Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

Backprobe the blower motor resistor connector with a test lamp from cavity 4 to chassis ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in the PNK/BLK wire between the blower speed switch and the blower motor resistor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

Replace the blower motor resistor. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
