The spare tire is a full-size radial tire, identical in size to the other four tires. The spare tire and wheel assembly and the spare wheel carrier is on the rear door. As with all the other tires on the vehicle, replace the spare tire and wheel assembly with equipment that has the same load capacity, diameter, rim width, offset and mounting configuration as the original spare tire and wheel assembly.

Removal Procedure

  1. Unlock and remove the spare wheel lock (3).
  2. Remove the spare wheel stowage cover nut.
  3. Remove the spare wheel stowage cover (2).

  4. Object Number: 477262  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 2 wheel nuts (2,3).
  6. Remove the spare tire and wheel assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Operating a vehicle with wheels or tires of improper size may result in loss of control, personal injury or property damage.

    Important: Ensure the wheel balance weight is on the lower left quadrant (5) in order to allow installation of the spare wheel stowage cover.

  1. Install the spare tire and wheel assembly (1) to the spare wheel carrier.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install 2 wheel nuts (2,3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 95 N·m (69 lb ft).

  5. Install the spare wheel stowage cover (2). Secure with the spare wheel stowage cover nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 95 N·m (69 lb ft).

  7. Install and lock the spare wheel lock (3).
