Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the
vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear axle tie rod bolts (1,3), the nut, and
the washers.
- Remove the rear axle tie rod (2).
Installation Procedure
Important: DO NOT tighten the bolts. The weight of the vehicle must be on the tires
and wheels before tightening the bolts.
- Install the following components to the rear axle and to the vehicle
body:

- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- With the weight
of the vehicle on the tires and wheels, tighten the bolts (1,3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 90 N·m (65.0 lb ft).
