Installation Procedure
Important:
• | Use a new shock absorber nut (1) when installing the shock
absorber. |
• | DO NOT tighten the nuts and bolts completely. The weight of the
vehicle must be on the wheels and tires before tightening the nuts and bolts. |
- Install the following
components to the vehicle:
• | The shock absorber nut (1) |
- Secure the shock absorber
to the lower bracket with the lower mounting bolt (2) and the lower
mounting nut.
- Remove the floor jack.
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Tighten the nuts
and the bolt with the weight of the vehicle on the wheels and tires.
Tighten
• | Tighten the shock absorber nut to 29 N·m (21.0 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the lower nut and bolt (2) to 85 N·m
(61.5 lb ft). |
