  1. Loosen the steering gear boot outer clamp.

  2. Object Number: 461749  Size: SH
  3. Measure the length of the right inner tie rod and the right outer tie rod.
  4. Measure the length of the left inner tie rod (1) and the left outer tie rod (4).
  5. Compare the two lengths. If the lengths are not equal, loosen the tie rod end lock nuts and rotate the tie rods in order to equalize the length of the tie rods.
  6. Adjust the toe. Refer to Front Toe Adjustment .
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Tighten the tie rod end lock nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 65 N·m (47 lb ft).

  10. Ensure the steering gear boots are not twisted.
  11. Tighten the steering gear boot outer clamp.
