Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement Cooling Fan

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 468524  Size: SH

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the 2 tensioner mounting bolts (1,3).
  4. Remove the tensioner.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the tensioner. Secure with the two bolts (1,3).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  3. Install and adjust the cooling fan drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

Removal Procedure

  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  4. Remove the 2 drive belt tensioner bolts.
  5. Remove the drive belt tensioner (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the drive belt tensioner (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   3. Install the drive belt tensioner bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 tensioner bolts to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

  5. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
