Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the accelerator
control cable (1) from the accelerator pedal (2).
- Push the accelerator control cable through the bulkhead grommet.
- Disconnect the accelerator
control cable (1) from the throttle lever (2) by loosening the
cable locknut and the adjusting nut.
- Remove the accelerator control cable (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the accelerator
control cable (1) to the throttle lever (2).
- Secure the accelerator control cable with the cable locknut and
the adjusting nut. Do not tighten fully.
- Push the accelerator control
cable through the bulkhead grommet.
- Connect the accelerator control cable (1) to the accelerator pedal
(2).
Adjustment for Manual Transmission M/T
- Inspect the accelerator
control cable for 10 to 15 mm (0.4 to 0.6-in) of end play.
- Loosen the adjusting nut and the cable locknut at the throttle
body unit.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- With the throttle
pedal fully depressed, check the clearance (2) between the throttle
lever (3) and throttle body hard stop (1). The clearance
should be: 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in).
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable locknut adjusting nut to 23 N·m
(17 lb ft).
Adjustment for Automatic Transmission A/T
- Inspect the accelerator
control cable for 10 to 15 mm (0.4 to 0.6-in) of end play.
- Loosen the adjusting nut and the cable locknut at the throttle
body unit.

- With the throttle
pedal fully depressed, check the clearance (3) between the cable stop (1)
and the cable housing (2). The clearance should be 0.8-1.5 mm
(0.03-0.06 in).
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable locknut adjusting nut to 23 N·m
(17 lb ft).
