• | J 38042 Dual
O-Ring Tube Separator |
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the low pressure switch.
- Remove the low pressure cycling switch from the accumulator.
- Remove the compressor
hose assembly nut from the accumulator using the J 38042
.
- Remove the accumulator nut from the evaporator using the J 38042
.
Important: Cap or plug all of the open connections.
- Remove the O-ring seals from the accumulator.
- Remove the accumulator bracket screw.
- Remove the accumulator.
- Remove the upper and the lower accumulator insulators.
Installation Procedure
- Install the upper and
lower accumulator insulators.
- Install the accumulator.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the accumulator bracket screw.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Coat the new O-ring seals with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
- Install the new O-ring seals.
- Install the accumulator nut to the evaporator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the compressor hose assembly nut to the accumulator.
- Install the low pressure cycling switch to the accumulator.
- Connect the electrical connector to the low pressure cycling switch.
- Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A
.
