Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 257998 Size: MH
  1. Install the upper and lower accumulator insulators.
  2. Install the accumulator.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the accumulator bracket screw.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the screw to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  6. Coat the new O-ring seals with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
  7. Install the new O-ring seals.
  8. Install the accumulator nut to the evaporator.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the compressor hose assembly nut to the accumulator.
  11. Install the low pressure cycling switch to the accumulator.
  12. Connect the electrical connector to the low pressure cycling switch.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
