Removal Procedure
- Disable the supplemental inflatable
restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Remove the passenger's knee bolster. Refer to
Knee Bolster Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges
and Console.
- Remove the right side cowl trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Hinge Pillar
in Interior
Trim.
- Remove the air distributor. Refer to
Air Distributor Duct Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts that
retain the air inlet assembly.
- Remove the vacuum connector.
- Remove the air inlet assembly from the vehicle.
- Remove the nuts that retain the vacuum motor.
- Remove the vacuum motor from the air inlet assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the vacuum motor to the air inlet assembly.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts
that retain the vacuum motor to the air inlet assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the retaining nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the air inlet assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the bolts that
retain the air inlet assembly to the vehicle.
Tighten
Tighten the four bolts that retain the air inlet to 4 N·m
(35 lb in).
- Install the vacuum connector.
- Install the air distributor assembly. Refer to
Air Distributor Duct Replacement
.
- Install the right side cowl trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Hinge Pillar
in Interior
Trim.
- Install the Passenger's knee bolster. Refer to
Knee Bolster Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges
and Console.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System
in SIR.
