Model and Year: 1982-84 S/T TRUCKS - ALL ENGINES

Some 1982-1984 S/T Trucks that were produced with the circular plastic fan blade assembly as shown in Figure No. 1, may experience a "snapping" or "cracking" type noise from the fan assembly during enqine acceleration. If this condition is encountered, the fan blade assembly must be replaced with the type shown in Figures No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4.

Use the following chart to determine which replacement parts are required. Fan replacement procedures are listed in section 6B of the Light Duty Service Manual.

CAUTION:

Do not stand in line with any rotating fan assembly while the engine is in operation.

Do not use or repair a damaged fan assembly. An unbalanced fan may fly apart and cause personal injury and/or property damage. Re- place any damaged fan assemblies with new assemblies.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
