Did you review the Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify that the daytime running lamps are inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement in Park Brake for access.
  2. Start the engine.

Does the brake indicator stop illuminating and the headlamps light to the DRL mode?

Replace the parking brake switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement in Park Brake.

Did you complete the replacement?

Test the battery positive voltage circuit between the DRL control module connector cavity 14 and the parking brake switch connector for a short to ground condition .

Is a short to ground condition present?

Go to Step 6

Repair the short to ground condition in the battery positive voltage circuit between the DRL control module connector cavity 14 and the parking brake switch connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 22

  1. Disconnect the DRL control module connector.
  2. Measure the voltage between cavity 22 of the DRL module connector to chassis ground.

Is proper B+ voltage supplied?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn ignition to the ON position.
  2. Measure the voltage between cavity 23 of the DRL module connector to chassis ground.

Is proper B+ voltage supplied?

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the DRL control module connector.
  2. With the engine running, measure the voltage between cavity 13 to chassis ground.

Is proper B+ voltage supplied?

Go to Step 10

Test for open between cavity 12 of the DRL module connector and ground.

Is open condition present?

Go to Step 11

Test for high resistance between cavity 1 of the DRL module connector and ground.

Is high resistance in the circuit present?

  1. Disconnect connector C3 of junction block 1.
  2. Test for open between cavity 11 of the DRL control module and cavity 2 of connector C3 of junction block 1.

Is open condition present?

Go to Step 13

Test for an open between cavity 25 of the DRL control module and cavity 2 of connector C3 of junction block 1.

Is an open condition present?

Go to Step 21

Repair the open in the battery positive voltage circuit between cavity 22 of the DRL control module connector and cavity 10 of connector C3 of junction block 1. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the battery positive voltage circuit between cavity 23 of the DRL control module connector and cavity 6 of connector C1 of junction block 3. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the charge indicator ground circuit between the DRL control module connector cavity 13 and SP258. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the ground circuit between cavity 12 of the DRL control module connector and ground. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the ground circuit between cavity 1 of the DRL control module connector and SP261. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the DRL ground circuit between cavity 11 of the DRL control module connector and cavity 2 of connector C3 of junction block 1. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
