Did you review the Lighting System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the dome lamps are always on.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the multifunction alarm module.
  2. Test for a short to ground in the door jamb switch circuit from cavity 10 of the multifunction alarm module connector.

Is a short to ground present?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair the short to ground in the door jamb switch circuit and or replace the dome lamp assembly. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems or Dome Lamp Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

Test the door jamb switch circuits from the multifunction alarm module to the door jamb switches for a short to ground.

Is a short to ground present?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair the short to ground in the damaged wires. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 8

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 8

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
