Removal Procedure
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Disconnect all the electrical
connectors at the ignition control module (ICM).
- Note position of spark plug wires for installation and disconnect
the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.
- Remove the screws securing the coil assemblies to the ICM.
- Disconnect the coils from the ICM.
- Remove the ICM from the module mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the ICM on the module mounting bracket.
- Install the coils to the
ICM.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws
through the coils and the module into the module mounting bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).
- Connect the spark plug wires as noted during the removal.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the ICM.
