The child seat may be used only in a forward facing seating location.
When the child seat is used in the front seat location, or the second seat of a three seat station wagon, it is easily installed by connecting the child seat top strap to the belt at the seating position immediately to the rear (see Figure 1). Since the child seat utilizes the belt of the seating position directly behind the child seat, occupants should not be allowed to sit at these locations (except for a three (3) seat station wagon).
If a child seat is to be used in a second seat position, a special anchor must be installed to anchor the child seat top strap. In order to assure the correct top strap angle, the child seat is only to be used at the seating position for which the top strap anchor is installed. The following general instructions explain how to install the anchor for the child seat top strap. See the figures listed below for the specific body style.

Select the desired rear seat installation position and locate or drill the appropriate mounting hole(s) for the anchor bolt(s) as described in steps listed in the appropriate figures.
If the hole penetrates to the exterior of the vehicle, apply a sealant between the anchor bolt washer and the sheet metal to prevent carbon monoxide from entering the vehicle. Suitable sealers include silicone, butyl or acrylic type caulking.
In the event that the child seat anchorage assembly is removed, all bolt holes penetrating to the exterior of the vehicle must be re- sealed to prevent exhaust fumes from entering the vehicle.
2. Install the top strap anchor assembly as shown and tighten nut securely.
3. Install the child seat and secure with child seat belt according to manufacturers' instructions.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
