Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 441981 Size: SH
  1. Remove the 3 retaining screws from the lower column trim cover (3).
  2. Remove the upper column trim cover (1) tilting up and unsnapping from the lower column trim cover hinges.

    3. Object Number: 296670 Size: SH
  3. Pull out on the retaining pin securing the tilt steering wheel lever (2).
  4. Snap out the tilt steering wheel lever (2) by pulling firmly in an outward direction.
  5. Remove the lower column trim cover (3) from the steering column (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 441981 Size: SH
  1. Install the lower column trim cover (3) to the steering column (2).
  2. Install the upper column trim cover (1) to the steering column (2).

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the retaining screws to the lower steering column trim cover (3).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  4. Snap in the tilt steering wheel lever (2) by pushing in firmly.
