Removal Procedure

Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.


    Object Number: 181868  Size: SH
  1. Remove the bolt which retains the A/C line to the fan shroud.
  2. Remove air deflector shield.
  3. Remove electrical harness from cooling fan retainers.
  4. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector.
  5. Remove the four upper fan bolts.
  6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Remove lower closeout panel.
  8. Remove the four lower fan bolts.
  9. Remove the fan from the shroud.
  10. Remove fan shroud from radiator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install fan shroud to radiator.
  2. Install the fan to the shroud.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the four lower fan bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install lower closeout panel.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the four upper fan bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Connect the cooling fan electrical connector.
  11. Install wiring harness to retainers on cooling fans.
  12. Install air deflector.
  13. Install bolt to retain A/C line to fan shroud.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
