Fuel Filler Door Actuator Noise (Apply Grease)

Customers may comment of a high pitched squeal-type noise heard from the fuel door area when locking or unlocking the vehicle.

This condition may be caused by friction between the actuator shaft and the bearing within the actuator assembly.

1. Disconnect and remove the fuel door actuator from the vehicle. Refer to the Lumina/Caprice Service Information for the procedure.



2. Apply Dow Corning Molykote 33 medium grease (or equivalent) to the actuator shaft.
3. Install the actuator assembly.
4. Operate the lock (lock/unlock) 10 times to work the grease into the actuator mechanism. Confirm that noise is reduced to an acceptable level.
