Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the a/c system . Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the A/C accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .
  5. Remove the retaining screws from the evaporator case cover .
  6. Remove the evaporator case cover from the heater/vent module.
  7. Remove the air temperature door linkage and actuator . Refer to Air Temperature Actuator Replacement .

  9. Remove the air temperature door from the heater/vent module.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 691848  Size: SH
  1. Install the air temperature door (1) to the heater/vent module .
  2. Install the air temperature door linkage and actuator. Refer to Air Temperature Actuator Replacement .
  3. Install the evaporator front cover to the evaporator case.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator housing screw to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in)

  5. Install the A/C accumulator . Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  7. Install the coolant recovery reservoir or the surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
