Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the exhaust system as necessary. Refer to the appropriate procedure in Engine Exhaust.
  3. Remove the heat shields from the vehicle. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement - Frame in Engine Exhaust.
  4. Remove the heater hose connections from the water by-pass valve.
  5. Remove the heater hose connections from the intermediate pipe.

  6. Object Number: 301722  Size: SH
  7. Remove the retainers from the vehicle body.
  8. Remove the front inlet and outlet pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 301722  Size: SH
  1. Install the front inlet and outlet pipe to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the retainers to the vehicle body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the retainers to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Install the heater hose connections to the intermediate pipe.
  6. Install the heater hose connections to the water by-pass valve.
  7. Install the heat shields to the vehicle. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement - Frame in Engine Exhaust.
  8. Install the exhaust system as necessary. Refer to the appropriate procedure in Engine Exhaust.
  9. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
