Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen
Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to the appropriate procedure:
- Recover the refrigerant
from the system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Disconnect the compressor hose assembly at the compressor. Refer
to
Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the sealing washers.
Installation Procedure
Important:
• | Install the sealing washers, keeping the dirt and foreign material
from adhering to the sealing surfaces of the washers, the hose block, or the
compressor ports. |
• | Clean all surfaces with a lint-free rag. |
• | DO NOT reuse the sealing washer. |
• | DO NOT oil the sealing washers prior to assembly. |
- Install the sealing washer
onto the pilots of suction/discharge block fitting.
- Ensure that the washers are flush against the surface of the block
fitting.
- Install the hose block to the compressor.
- Ensure that the sealing washers are seated within the compressor
machined surfaces.
- Connect the hose assembly to the compressor.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Hold the block in
place and hand tighten the attachment bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Evacuate and Recharge the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component
using the J 39400-A
.
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to the appropriate procedure:
