Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Disconnect the rear evaporative emission (EVAP) purge pipe (3) at the chassis EVAP purge pipe (2).
- Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP pipe (2) at the canister.
- Disconnect the vent valve pipe (4) at the EVAP canister.
- Remove the canister bracket to crossmember mounting bolt.
- Remove the canister from the vehicle.
- Remove the rear EVAP purge pipe from the canister and the retaining clip.
- Remove the canister from the canister bracket.
Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new canister to the canister bracket.
- Install the rear EVAP purge pipe to the canister and the retaining clip.
- Install the canister to the vehicle.
- Install the canister bracket to crossmember mounting bolt.
- Connect the vent valve pipe (4) to the EVAP canister.
- Connect the fuel tank EVAP pipe to the canister (2).
- Connect the rear EVAP purge pipe (3) to the chassis EVAP purge pipe (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the canister bracket to crossmember mounting bolt to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
