Removal Procedure
- Place a drain pan under
the transmission oil cooler lines (1,2).
- Remove the oil cooler lines (1,2) from the transmission.
- Unclip and remove the
oil cooler lines (1) from the retaining bracket (2).
- If servicing with the oil cooler filter
on the left remove the bolts, the washers, and clips that secure the oil cooler
lines.
- Remove the oil cooler lines from the transmission.
- If servicing with the oil cooler filter
on the right remove the bolts, the washers, and clips that secure the oil
cooler lines.
- Remove the oil cooler lines from the transmission.
- Remove the bolt securing the oil cooler line to the radiator.
- Remove the oil cooler lines from the radiator.
- Remove the oil cooler lines from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the oil cooler lines to the vehicle.
- Install the oil cooler lines to the radiator.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolt
securing the oil cooler line to the radiator.
Tighten
Tighten the oil cooler line bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- If servicing with the oil cooler filter on the right install the
oil cooler lines to the transmission.
- Install the bolts, the washers, and clips that secure the oil
cooler lines.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- If servicing with the oil cooler filter
on the left install the oil cooler lines to the transmission.
- Install the bolts, the washers, and clips that secure the oil
cooler lines.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the oil cooler
lines (1) to the retaining bracket (2).
- Install the oil cooler
lines (1,2) to the transmission.
- Check and fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON
III fluid. Refer to
Fluid Capacity Specifications
.
- With the engine running, inspect the oil cooler lines for leaks.
