Removal Procedure

  1. Trace the transmission oil cooler line in order to locate the external oil filter mounted on the frame rail.
  2. Place a container under the oil filter in order to catch any draining oil.

  3. Object Number: 201488  Size: SH
  4. Remove the oil filter from the oil filter cover.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply a light coat of transmission oil to the filter seal.

  2. Object Number: 201488  Size: SH
  3. Install the oil filter to the oil filter cover.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Tighten the oil filter to the oil filter cover.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Add 0.946 liters (1 quart) of automatic transmission oil to the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
