Removal Procedure
- Remove the front wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
- Remove the front intake air duct (1) from the air filter housing.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
- Remove the upper radiator hose from the coolant outlet.
- Remove the coolant outlet bolts.
- Remove the coolant outlet and the thermostat.
- Remove the coolant outlet gasket.
- Clean the following components:
- Inspect the manifold and the coolant outlet mating surfaces for the following conditions:
| • | The surface of the intake manifold |
| • | The coolant outlet |
| • | Pits |
| • | Cracks |
| • | Other damage that could cause leaking |
Installation Procedure
- Install the thermostat.
- Install the gasket.
- Install the coolant outlet.
- Install the coolant outlet bolts.
- Install the upper radiator hose to the coolant outlet.
- Install the front intake air duct (1) to the air filter housing.
- Install the front wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
- Inspect the system for leaks.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the coolant outlet bolts to 37 N·m (27 lb ft).
