The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the high side refrigerant pressure through a A/C refrigerant pressure sensor. When the pressure is high the signal voltage is high. When the pressure is low the signal voltage is low. When pressure is high the PCM commands the cooling fans on. When pressure is too high or too low the PCM will not allow the A/C compressor clutch to engage.
• | The A/C refrigerant pressure sensor pressure is more than 453 psi (4.92 volts) with the A/C requested. |
• | The A/C refrigerant pressure sensor pressure is more than 336 psi (3.76 volts) with the A/C not requested. |
• | The A/C refrigerant pressure sensor pressure is less than 8.75 psi (0.20 volt) when the intake air temperature is more than 0°C (32°F) and DTCs P0112 or P0113 are not set. |
• | The A/C refrigerant pressure sensor pressure is less than 0 psi (0.01 volt) when an intake air temperature (IAT) sensor DTC is present or the intake air temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). |
Any of the conditions for running the DTC are met for 15 seconds.
• | The PCM will not illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL). |
• | The PCM stores the failure records. |
• | The A/C compressor clutch is disabled. |
• | The DTC will become history if the PCM no longer detects a failure. |
• | The history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction. |
• | The DTC can be cleared by using a scan tool. |

Tests for the proper operation of the circuit in the low voltage range.
Tests for the proper operation of the circuit in the high voltage range. If the fuse in the jumper opens when you perform this test, the signal circuit is shorted to ground.
Tests for a short to voltage in the 5-volt reference circuit.
